Nyonsis a lovely small city with nice cafés in the streets and several restaurants in the old part of Nyons within the old city walls. Be sure to follow the picturesque “Route of wines” that starts in Nyons and leads towards the city of Vinsobres.
Vaison la Romaine
has very nice old Roman excavations and an old and interesting city-center. The landscape is less rough here and there are a lot of wineries. It is only a 15 min. drive from the mountain Mont Ventoux. In summertime concerts are organised in the ancient Roman theatre. At Grignan en Suze la Rousse castles are open for the public. Near La Motte Chalacon (30 min.) are two lovely lakes where you can swim. Even smaller children can swim here as the shores are shallow. The theatre festival in Avignon in July (2 hrs driving) attracts a lot of people as well as the annual jazz festival in Crest also in July.
