HISTORY MARTEL
Historyof Martel are situated in a nature reserve against the slopes of the Couspeau mountain range near the village of St. Nazaire le Désert, a small village in Drôme Provencal. Enjoy the breathtaking view on the massif of Vercors. In that region you will find a lot of lavender and sunflower fields The south-eastern region of France is at an one hour's drive from the Vaucluse, the heart of Provence.
The small city
of Nyons has a mediterranean atmosphere with all its olive trees and wine fields. Due to the influence of the mediterranean sea this region has many hours of sunshine. The farms are at an altitude of 800 meters, so it never gets too hot even in summertime (22-30 degrees Celcius). In September and October the weather is still pleasant (19-24 degr).
Flora and fauna
In the surrounding area of Martel you can stroll through wild meadows with herbs, wild orchids and daffodils that the butterflies love. One of the persons who rented the house previously posted pictures of the beautiful butterflies on his homepage (see www.fotoreiche.nl chapter Frankrijk 2007).
In the preserved nature around Martel wildlife is still intact and sometimes you can even admire a fox, badgers, eagles, nightingales, buzzards or owls.
